Our Programs
At Live Oak Little School, each child’s journey is unique, and we honor that through thoughtful advancement practices grounded in developmentally appropriate education. Children move through our programs based on readiness rather than age, ensuring that every step forward aligns with their individual growth, interests, and learning style.
Our classrooms are intentionally designed to support exploration, curiosity, and independence, with environments and materials that serve as active partners in learning. Families are integral to this process, partnering with our educators and child development specialists to celebrate achievements, set goals, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Below, you’ll find detailed descriptions of each of our programs, highlighting how we challenge, support, and nurture children at every stage of their educational journey. All children at Live Oak Little School must be fully vaccinated.

Acorns
(6 weeks - 10 months)
Our youngest learners begin their journey as Acorns. These babies are lovingly cared for, cuddled, and supported with every opportunity to thrive. Each Acorn’s day follows the individual schedule provided by parents, including feeding, sleeping, and requested activities, ensuring consistency and comfort from home to school.
Infants enjoy music, art, tummy time, and a variety of stimulating, age-appropriate activities shared with attentive and caring providers, creating a nurturing and engaging environment from the very start.
Each Acorn has their own crib and is encouraged to rest on their own schedule. Parents provide mini crib sheets for rest time. Infants who are not yet rolling over may wear a sleeveless blanket sleeper. For safety, no toys or blankets are permitted in cribs. All infants are placed on their backs and gently soothed to sleep.
-
Seedlings
(10 - 18 months)
When our babies are ready—crawling, pulling themselves up, and confidently cruising around the room—they transition into the Seedlings classroom.
This joyful space is filled with discovery and growth. Teachers engage children through stimulating, age-appropriate activities that support early language development using both sign language and verbal communication. Children also begin learning important social skills such as taking turns and sharing, with a special emphasis on Character Education.
Our nurturing care providers skillfully feed the children together at gathering tables, helping to establish routines and a strong sense of community. Seedlings rest at the same time each day, each in their own crib, creating a calm, predictable nap environment.
In the Seedlings classroom, children are gently introduced to life’s essential lessons, modeled with kindness, patience, and grace. They thrive both inside their thoughtfully designed classroom and on their dedicated playground, where exploration and growth are encouraged daily.
-
Sprouts
(18 - 30 months)
Children explore through center-based activities, daily circle time with music and movement, and early math and literacy experiences. Art and creative play encourage self-expression, while language skills continue to grow rapidly.
Sprouts enjoy plenty of outdoor play, fine motor activities, and opportunities to begin toilet learning. Children rest on cots with bedding provided by parents, ensuring comfort and routine throughout the day.
-
Twigs
(30 Months - 3½ Years)
Our Twigs classes provide a vibrant and enriching experience for children ages 30 months to three and a half years. With small class sizes, each child receives personalized attention, fostering meaningful relationships and a strong focus on character education. The Twigs are divided into two groups of eight, in classrooms thoughtfully arranged near restrooms for safety and accessibility.
Children spend ample time outdoors exploring, playing, and developing social and physical skills. Circle times encourage curiosity, language development, and lively discussions, while art activities allow children to express their unique personalities.
As the first age group to use our dining hall, music room, library, and art room, Twigs experience a wide variety of learning spaces. This stage introduces emergent reading, with daily exposure to printed, spoken, and sung language. Children continue toilet learning and follow a shared lunch and nap schedule, with outdoor play on the playground promoting collaboration and joy.
Our Twigs are funny, sweet, and curious, and their love of learning shines through in every activity, building a strong foundation for future success.
-
Saplings
(3–4 years)
Our Saplings are independent, curious learners, ages 3 and 4, ready to explore and engage with the world around them. Circle times focus on curriculum-based lessons and creative exploration, while learning centers provide opportunities to practice kindness and Character Education.
Saplings approach each day with joy, curiosity, and boundless energy, stretching their imaginations and discovering new ideas. They love spending time outdoors in the gardens and on the playground, developing both social and physical skills in a playful, engaging environment.
-
Live Oaks
(4-5 years)
Our Live Oaks are our senior class, consisting of children ages 4 and 5 who thrive as independent, enthusiastic learners. They engage in creative, hands-on activities that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and strong friendships.
Live Oaks participate in advanced lessons in mathematics, literacy, music, and science, and they shine in theater productions, our annual art show, and the science fair. This group demonstrates leadership, mastering age-appropriate academic and artistic skills and often exceeding expectations.
Graduates of the Live Oaks program are well-prepared and welcomed into every primary school in our community, confident and ready for the next stage of learning.
-
Grand Oaks
(After-School & School Breaks)
Grand Oaks are graduates of Live Oak Little School who join our after-school program. We also welcome community children during school breaks and summers. Participants reconnect with friends, make new ones, and enjoy a variety of fun activities and special privileges, all in a safe and engaging environment.
