Art Makes Me Smart Gallery Show

Live Oak Little School is an Art School. We teach using art as the child’s work. Children paint, draw, sculpt, put on plays, play music and dance all for joy! We start every new year in January with Art Makes Me Smart Month. On the second Friday in February, we turn our school into an art gallery and install a wonderful show! All the children participate! We study different artists and the mediums they use to create their work. It is an amazing event that family’s treasure for many years to come. This is also a way for parents and grandparents to volunteer in the school.

Valentines Day

We treasure our families and friends. We celebrate Valentines Day with lessons about our sweet friends and how special each child is. We learn all their favorite things, who is in their family and celebrate with classroom parties. We learn about hearts and have special treats.

St. Patrick’s Day

On Saint Patrick’s Day we are visited by a Leprechaun! Tiny footprints, green glitter, and big messes left behind in the classrooms. We have special treats in the dining hall and learn an Irish Jig!

Visit From the Fairies

In March, we have a visit from Fairies. A tiny magical village appears for one day then disappears! The children are fascinated and charmed by the details. It is a wonderfully memorable experience for the children!

Science Fair

At the end of our summer fun, we host an annual Science Fair! Developmentally appropriate experiments astonish parents when they come to see the children’s work. The scientific method is alive and thriving at Live Oak Little School! The children have on going lessons in science. We choose the favorites to display what the children learned. This is a valuable experience that the children look forward to working on every year!

Fairy Tale Ball

Our annual Fairy Tale Ball is a culmination of learning and expression. September is Classic Children’s Literature Month. It all started when we welcomed a foster child who had never been read to and had never learned about Happily Ever After. We study nursery rhymes and fairy tales. The children are fully enveloped in their imaginations when we write stories of our own! On the last Friday in September, we host our Fairy Tale Ball. It is a renaissance fair for children. We have an ultimate dress up party!

There are jump castles, crafts and much merriment! We invite live unicorns for the children to ride! It is one of the most memorable events at Live Oak Little School. Grown children return to tell us their happy memories of the Fairy Tale Ball!

Pilgrim Picnic

We close early on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We host a Thankful Picnic Lunch. The children learn about our kind and gracious Native American Friends who showed us the way to plant and harvest in our new country. The children make butter and cranberry sauce to take home!

Our Nativity Play

We host an annual Nativity Play. The children learn the story of the holy family and many songs to help narrate the event. Our infants are a host of tiny angels, and their angel parents fly them across the stage to see the Christ Child. We have lovely costumes for the whole cast and crew. It is a heartwarming experience for everyone! Plan to bring friends and neighbors to see it!
